Project 601, Kolhapur, India
Located in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, this residence was conceived as a contemporary interpretation of Indian living, where materiality and craftsmanship become the primary storytellers. The site has been executed & the material pallet has been finalised in collaboration with Architect Anjali Pol, the project draws inspiration from the richness of Indian textiles, traditional motifs, and handcrafted finishes, translating them into a refined and understated interior language.
The design process began with a carefully curated material palette that combined earthy textures, woven fabrics, leather finishes, brass accents, and wallpapers inspired by Indian art and landscapes. Rather than relying on overt ornamentation, the intention was to evoke an Indian identity through layers of tactility, colour, and craftsmanship. Deep reds, forest greens, warm tans, and natural wood tones were balanced against soft lime-finished walls and muted stone flooring, creating interiors that feel both rooted and contemporary.
Custom details and curated artworks introduce moments of nostalgia and familiarity, while clean lines and restrained forms maintain a sense of calm and modernity. Brass elements, textured surfaces, and artisanal fabrics enrich the spaces without overwhelming them, allowing each material to age gracefully and acquire character over time.
The result is a home that celebrates Indian aesthetics in a subtle and timeless manner—a space where tradition and modernity coexist, and where every surface and object contribute to a layered narrative of place, culture, and craftsmanship.
