Patas Residence, Pune

The village of Patas, located on the outskirts of Pune city and alongside the Pune-Solapur highway, is surrounded by vast rural landscapes where agriculture is the primary livelihood. Just 500 meters away from the site, a cement factory adds a unique industrial presence to the area. The design of this project harmonizes with the surrounding environment by integrating elements from the local architectural context, such as buildings, huts, and factories, into its aesthetic. The use of materials like cement roofing tiles, cement blocks, concrete textures, and rough-finished granite reflects the simplicity and rawness of the village's industrial and agricultural setting.

Inspired by a minimalist approach to architecture, the design emphasizes function and form, focusing on practicality while blending with the natural surroundings. The project prioritizes sustainability by utilizing local artisans, workers, and on-site materials, all sourced from nearby vendors. This collaboration not only supports the community but ensures the project reflects its roots. As a brutalist structure, the house will gradually blend with its environment, allowing nature to reclaim and shape it over time, creating a seamless connection between the built form and the landscape.
